Brand Exploration
Exploring the brand
The existing packaging for the baubles was clean and simple, but failed to add any extra dimensions to the brand. Keeping was tasked to explore ways to embellish the packaging, develop branding elements and create more of an experience out of receiving a Tom Martin London product.
How we did it
Deep diving into existing artwork, brand elements and suggested taglines, we took time to research creative packaging and the use of patterns, colour and typography. Creating presentations that visually showed ideas being tested, like applying brand patterns to boxes and using colour or luxury finishes like gold, enabled our collaborative process and led to the discovery of the evolved brand.
Several areas within the existing brand felt untapped, like utilising the ‘art’ of ‘Martin’ in the name to highlight artwork from the baubles themselves, or using painted elements like animals to decorate the boxes as if to tease what was inside.
To create a simple and unique solution, we decided to hint at the creative showstopper inside the packaging. Forming a pattern using joined spheres to highlight the shape of the baubles, we found gaps between the circles that resembled a four-pointed diamond star. The star of the show is the bauble, hidden in plain sight. It’s what’s on the inside that matters.
Making what’s on the inside matter
Just like the inside-painted artwork of the baubles, Tom Martin London now has a creative motif that graces the inside of the packaging itself, the star icon has formed a new visual element within the brand, alongside the still effective tagline.
